About the Job
Essential Job Duties
- Support leadership with planning and operations for large-scale community-building and belonging events, including taking notes at planning meetings and executing assigned tasks related to program design, logistics, advertising, background research, and assessment.
- Collaborate with staff on the development and delivery of programming for students who receive access-based resources and help facilitate connections to institutional and local community resources as requested.
- Support employee resource group leaders with program planning and assessment, providing logistics for a calendar of activities, including space reservations and catering orders, and contributing to the drafting of emails, flyers, and other communications.
- Support content development for diversity and inclusion initiatives, including recognition days, heritage months, and seasonal observances, by researching relevant materials and local events and creating draft content and designs using tools such as Google Docs and Canva.
- Provide programmatic and operational support for youth programming by helping design curricula and coordinate and facilitate youth development programs with local community partners.
- Organize information and non-sensitive data related to youth programming by maintaining shared digital drives, tracking participant information, and supporting organizational knowledge management processes.
- Represent the organization at orientation and open house events, recruitment events, community fairs, and other organization-wide events as needed.
- Attend, participate in, and contribute to team meetings and gatherings, as well as training sessions and professional development workshops.
Qualifications
Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform the job.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience required.
- At least 2 years of experience developing and facilitating programs in higher education, community engagement, nonprofit, or related settings, or commensurate experience.
- Proven experience with event management and event planning.
- Experience connecting individuals and communities with educational, community, or access-based resources.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in highly collaborative environments, both independently and as part of a team.
- Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities with varying levels of complexity.
- Familiarity with community-building, belonging, diversity, equity, and inclusion frameworks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to effectively develop, prioritize, and execute multiple key projects simultaneously, both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with a customer-service mindset when engaging with students, staff, faculty, families, community partners, and external stakeholders.
- Desire to take on new challenges and pursue learning and professional development opportunities.
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, with the ability to work sensitively and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and as part of a cohesive team.
- Ability to use sound judgment, creativity, and vision to identify, address, and resolve issues.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Canva, and similar productivity and collaboration tools, with the ability to adapt to new technologies.
