About the Job
Job Description: A1 (Audio Engineer)
About the Event We are currently seeking a highly skilled A1 for a highly anticipated live event hosted by a popular app at a premier museum venue in Los Angeles.
Role Overview We are hiring an A1 to lead our audio operations, balancing two distinct acoustic environments. First, you will serve as the quality control lead for our main theater, ensuring the venue’s existing audio setup is perfectly tuned and ready for the main stage show. Second, you will be the driving force behind the outdoor courtyard party at night. We need someone who can design, install, operate, and ultimately break down a custom sound rig that delivers an unforgettable sonic experience—it needs to be loud, crystal clear, impressive, and absolutely bumping.
Key Responsibilities
- Theater Audio QC: Thoroughly test, tune, and quality-check the museum’s in-house audio setup in the main theater, ensuring flawless sound for live show content.
- Outdoor Sound Design & Install: Design, build, and optimize the speaker footprint for the nighttime outdoor courtyard party.
- DJ Equipment Integration: Oversee the complete installation and integration of all DJ equipment in close collaboration with the Technical Producer.
- DJ Sound Rehearsal: Lead a comprehensive sound check and rehearsal with the DJ the evening of the event to dial in levels, EQ, and monitor mixes before the party kicks off.
- Live Operation & Mixing: Operate the audio for the outdoor party, actively mixing and managing levels to ensure high-energy, premium sound quality throughout the night.
- Breakdown & Strike: Manage the complete breakdown, strike, and load-out of all supplemental audio equipment immediately following the event’s conclusion.
- Acoustic Management: Deliver a massive, immersive sound experience while expertly navigating the acoustic challenges of an outdoor museum courtyard.
- Pre-Production Alignment: Collaborate with our Technical Producer and venue staff to review gear specs and integration plans prior to load-in.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven track record as an A1 for both theatrical/live-speaking events and high-energy musical events or nightlife activations.
- Extensive experience designing, tuning, operating, and striking high-impact outdoor audio rigs.
- Deep knowledge of acoustic physics, speaker placement, and live mixing.
- Ability to seamlessly interface with and QC venue-provided in-house A/V systems.
Required Dates & Location
- Location: Los Angeles, CA (Museum Venue)
- Alignment Meetings: 1-2 meetings minimum (Week prior to the event)
- Load-In & Rigging: November 10
- Event Date & Breakdown: November 11 (including evening DJ rehearsal and post-event strike)
