Freelance Account Manager – Live Event Production

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Freelance Account Manager based in the Chicago area to join our team. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for small event clients throughout the year. You will lead client intakes, collaborate with the team to build accurate project quotes, and oversee execution by sourcing top-tier event talent using the Happily platform.

This is a flexible freelance position ideal for an experienced event producer or account manager who excels at client relations, team management, and remote operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Client Intake & Relationship Management: Meet with new and prospective clients (in person or virtually) to understand their event objectives, deliverables, and vision.
• Scoping & Quoting: Partner closely with team Happily to accurately estimate, price, and deliver comprehensive project quotes.
• Event Execution & Staffing: Utilize the Happily platform to recruit, hire, and manage freelance event staff to fulfill the sold scope of work.
• Quality Assurance: Manage hired event staff to ensure all project goals are executed seamlessly and client expectations are met or exceeded.
• Project Oversight: Maintain ongoing communication with clients across both virtual and hybrid/in-person live event productions.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Location: Must be based in or near Chicago, IL to handle local client meetings and event oversight as needed.
• Event Industry Experience: Strong background in both in-person and virtual live event production, preferably with direct experience as an Event Producer or Account Manager.
• Client & Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven track record of managing client relationships and guiding them through the project lifecycle.
• Technical & Business Savvy:
  • Proficiency with Google Sheets and strong command of business mathematics (margin calculations, budgeting, pricing models).
  • Highly tech-savvy with the ability to operate independently and remotely using modern software and digital platforms.
• Self-Management: Outstanding time-management skills with the ability to operate autonomously as a freelancer.
