About the Job
The Production Assistant plays a key role in supporting daily video editorial operations. This position works closely with producers, editors, and newsroom teams to assist with newsgathering, video research, asset management, and content organization across platforms in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist producers and editors with video research, screening, logging, and asset retrieval.
- Monitor video feeds, agency wires, and internal systems for high-value video assets and breaking news elements.
- Log, ingest, and organize raw footage, interviews, and archival video content.
- Basic video editing, clip creation, and formatting for digital and broadcast platforms.
- Coordinate with desk editors, field teams, and production staff to ensure smooth workflow execution.
- Help prepare elements for live broadcasts, packages, and digital video pieces under tight deadlines.
- Maintain organized archives, metadata tagging, and media asset tracking.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Film/Television Production, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 1+ years of internship or professional experience in video production, broadcast news, or digital editorial environments.
- Strong interest in news, current events, and visual storytelling.
- Familiarity with non-linear editing software (such as Adobe Premiere Pro) and digital media production workflows.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under strict dead-line pressure.
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays to cover breaking news cycles.

This role works closely with reporting, production, field operations, and digital teams to coordinate coverage, manage communications, share timely video and editorial information, and support newsgathering efforts. The position requires strong editorial judgment, quick decision-making, excellent communication, and the ability to adapt rapidly as priorities change.
