About the Job

Job Description: Video QC & Setup Technician

About the Event We are currently seeking a highly skilled Video Technician for a highly anticipated live event hosted by a popular app at a premier museum venue in Los Angeles.

Role Overview We are hiring a Video QC & Setup Technician to take full ownership of the technical setup and quality control of all visual displays across the event footprint. Your primary focus will be prepping and QCing the venue’s in-house screens (including projectors), as well as setting up and striking any supplemental monitors and displays we bring in for spaces outside the main theater. Because branding will be featured on all screens, the load-in day is highly critical; you will test all media, diagnose formatting issues, and provide explicit instructions to our design team on how resolutions need to be adjusted for optimal playback. Please note: This role is focused on setup, QC, and diagnostics, not live in-show switching or playback for the main theater.

Key Responsibilities

  • Venue Screen QC: Rigorously test, calibrate, and quality-check the museum’s in-house visual assets, including projectors and any existing TVs or monitors, to ensure branded assets display perfectly.
  • Supplemental Setup & Strike: Install, configure, and troubleshoot any additional screens, monitors, or projection equipment brought in by the event team (located outside the main theater), as well as handle their complete breakdown and strike post-event.
  • Resolution Diagnostics & Feedback: Utilize the load-in day to test all branded assets on their assigned screens. Identify scaling or aspect ratio issues, take precise notes, and give clear, actionable instructions to the design team for required resolution adjustments.
  • Pre-Production Alignment: Coordinate with the Technical Producer and design team to understand the display footprint and asset list prior to load-in.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Video Technician, Display Engineer, or A/V Tech for live corporate events, installations, or high-end activations.
  • Deep understanding of video resolutions, aspect ratios, scaling, and display calibration across various projectors and monitors.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical adjustments and formatting needs to graphic designers.
  • Meticulous attention to detail regarding brand integrity and visual formatting.

Required Dates & Location

  • Location: Los Angeles, CA (Museum Venue)
  • Alignment Meetings: 1-2 meetings minimum (Week prior to the event)
  • Load-In & Diagnostics Day: November 10 (Critical day for screen mapping and resolution feedback)
  • Event Date & Strike: November 11
